Candle Care & Safety

Safety is paramount for us at Conwy Candle Company, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our products are used in a safe and responsible manner.

Below we have provided some key do's and don'ts to help you enjoy your candles in the safest way;

What not to do

  • don't leave a lit candle unattended
  • don't use a candle as a night light
  • don't move a candle whilst lit or whilst the wax is still liquid
  • don't have a lit candle within reach of children or pets
  • don't light a candle underneath blinds, curtains, artificial flowers or other flammable materials
  • don't light a candle near a secondary ignition source (gas cookers, gas fires etc)
  • don't continue to use a candle when the liquid wax reaches the bottom of the jar

What you should do

  • enjoy a candle on a flat, heat proof surface away from children and pets
  • trim the wick of your candle before each use - leave 1cm of wick to burn
  • blow out your candle when leaving the room
  • avoid lighting if water has got into the candle (common when used in the bathroom)

Stop using your candle if

  • the flame is consistently erratic or tall
  • excessive crackling noises (except where a crackling effect wooden wick is used)
  • the wick becomes detached from the base of the candle - this is common when the candle is at the end of use
  • the candle jar shows cracking or is broken
  • a burning scent not recognisable as the scent of the wax
